Felt & Rubber Flat Roofs

Felt & rubber flat roofs that don’t pond or leak.

Flat roofs fail at the details: the edges, the upstands, the outlets. We install EPDM rubber and torch-on felt systems with those details done right, on extensions, garages, dormers, bay windows and porches.

EPDM rubber roofing

A single sheet of EPDM rubber membrane, bonded to the deck with no seams across the main area. It stays flexible in Scottish winters and doesn't crack in the sun. Our usual recommendation for extensions and garages.

Torch-on felt

Modern three-layer torch-on felt is a long way from the old pour-and-roll systems. It's a good, cost-effective choice for garages, sheds and roofs with lots of awkward detailing, and we can repair existing felt roofs rather than replacing them where that makes sense.

What's included

  • Removal of the old covering and inspection of the deck
  • Replacement of rotten decking or joists where needed
  • Insulation upgrade to current standards if you want it
  • New drip edges, trims, upstands and outlets
  • EPDM or felt system fitted to manufacturer specification
  • Full clear-up and waste removal

Flat roof repairs

Blisters, splits, ponding and failed laps can often be repaired without a full re-cover. We'll tell you when a repair will buy you years and when you're throwing money at a roof that's finished.

How it works

Three steps, no surprises

1

Call or send photos

Describe the problem or send us photos. We’ll often give you a rough idea of cost on the phone.

2

Free inspection & written quote

We come out, inspect the roof, photograph what we find and give you a fixed written price.

3

Work done, photos sent

We turn up when we say, do the job tidily and send you before and after photos when it’s finished.

Questions

Felt & rubber flat roofs: common questions

Rubber or felt: which is better?

For most domestic flat roofs we recommend EPDM rubber for its lifespan and lack of seams. Felt is cheaper up front and well suited to small or complicated roofs. We price both if you'd like to compare.

How long does a flat roof take?

Most garage and extension roofs are finished in one to two days.

Will it be guaranteed?

Ask us when we quote. We'll set out in writing what cover applies to the workmanship and the materials on your job.
