Slate & Tile Re-Roofs
Slate & tile re-roofs, stripped back and done properly.
When a roof is past patching, we strip it back, fix what's underneath and re-slate or re-tile it properly. Traditional Scotch slate, Spanish slate, concrete and clay tiles, all across Glasgow, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and North Ayrshire.
When is a re-roof the right call?
Most roofs can be repaired for years. A re-roof becomes the sensible option when slates are nailsick (the nails have rusted through and slates slip every winter), when the sarking boards are rotten, or when repair bills are coming round every few months. We'll tell you which side of that line you're on, with photos, and we won't push a re-roof you don't need.

Slate or tile?
On traditional tenements, villas and cottages, slate is usually the right match and may be required by planning in conservation areas. On post-war housing, concrete or clay tile is the normal choice. We price both and explain the difference in cost and lifespan so you can choose with your eyes open.
Part re-roofs
You don't always need the whole roof done. We regularly re-slate one elevation, a dormer, a rear extension or a bay roof while leaving the sound sections alone.

Slate & tile re-roofs: common questions
How long does a re-roof take?
Most houses take between two and five days once the scaffold is up, depending on size and what we find under the old slates. Large villas and tenement sections take longer. We give you a schedule before we start.
Do I need planning permission?
Usually not for like-for-like replacement. In conservation areas, or if you're changing from slate to tile, you may. We'll flag it and point you in the right direction.
Can you reuse my existing slates?
Often, yes. Good Scotch slate is worth keeping. We grade what comes off, reuse what's sound and match in new slate for the rest.
Is the work guaranteed?
Ask us when we quote. We'll explain what cover applies to the workmanship and to the materials on your particular job, in writing.
